Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Studiq ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that helps students capture notes, record lectures, and use AI tools to study more effectively. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Studiq, we collect:

  • Account information, including your name and email address when you create an account.
  • Photos and videos you take or import of your notes and study materials.
  • Audio recordings, including lecture recordings you create inside the app.
  • Other user content, including class folders, lesson titles, notes, PDFs, PowerPoint files, YouTube links, summaries, flashcards, and transcripts.
  • Purchase information related to Studiq subscriptions or in-app purchases.
  • App usage data, including product interactions, timestamps, and feature activity.
  • Identifiers, including your user ID, device ID, advertising identifier when permitted, and push notification token.
  • Diagnostic data, such as crash logs and performance information.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To sync your notes, photos, files, and recordings across your devices.
  • To transcribe lecture audio into text using AI.
  • To generate AI summaries, flashcards, and answers to your study questions.
  • To scan and extract text from photos of your notes.
  • To send you push notifications when a transcript is ready.
  • To send transactional emails, such as verification codes and account deletion confirmations.
  • To process subscriptions and manage billing status.
  • To improve app reliability, measure feature usage, and understand advertising performance.

We do not sell your study content to third parties.

3. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking

Studiq may use third-party services, including Meta/Facebook App Events, to measure app installs, app activity, and advertising performance. These services may collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, and product interaction data. This data may be used for advertising measurement and may be considered tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency rules.

On iOS, Studiq asks for permission before enabling advertiser tracking. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

4. Third-Party Services

Studiq uses third-party services to operate:

  • Google Firebase for authentication, database storage, file storage, and app infrastructure.
  • OpenAI for lecture audio transcription.
  • Anthropic for AI summaries, flashcards, study chat, and photo text extraction.
  • Resend for transactional email delivery.
  • Expo for push notification delivery.
  • RevenueCat for subscription status and purchase management.
  • Meta/Facebook App Events for app event measurement and advertising performance.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Your content is sent to these services only as needed to provide the features described above.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure. Access is restricted to your account only; other users cannot access your private class folders, photos, recordings, files, or transcripts unless you choose to share content through a Studiq sharing feature. We use Firebase Authentication to secure your account.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app in Settings > Danger Zone > Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account data from our servers, including class folders, photos, audio recordings, files, and transcripts, subject to limited retention where required for security, legal, billing, or abuse-prevention purposes. This action cannot be undone.

7. Children's Privacy

Studiq is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Studiq after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
